Random Conversations:
Ari (in car seat driving to school):  Mommy look!
Mommy (looking back to see Ari pulling his bottom lip up to touch his nose): Wow, your lip touches your nose!
Ari:  Yes, but only in the morning

*    *    *
Ari (happy to be done with the grocery shopping): Now are we gonna kick our butts outta here?!

*    *    *
Ari:  Kitty, you keep these pennies for me... and don't use them for your bills, ok?

*    *    *

Ari (just waking up for his first day of Kindergarten): Mommy, I had a dream last night.  I was at my new school and Isidro (Ari's favorite preschool teacher) was there, but he had flat hair like this (Ari holding hand close to top of head--Isidro has long hair to his waist), but it was Isidro and he was my new teacher, but he had short hair and it was my new school.
Mommy: Well, I think that is a very good sign for your first day of Kindergarten because it means that even though Isidro won't really be there, there will be other teachers just like him who will be there for you.

*    *    *

Ari (arriving at his first day of Kindergarten holding on desperately to Mommy's hand):  Mommy, please don't go...
Ari (ten minutes later during bathroom break):  Mommy are you going now?
Mommy:  Yes, I have to go now.
Ari (huge smile):  Mommy... this is SO much fun!!  Bye Mommy!

*    *    *

Ari (during the first week of school):  How long will I be at my new school?
Mommy:  Well, until fifth grade.
Ari:  So, five more years... that's like I'm five now, so from when I was a baby until now.

*    *    *

Ari: Mommy, how come I can't hum at school?
Mommy: Did you get in trouble for humming?
Ari:  Yes.
Mommy:  Was the teacher trying to teach the class when you were humming?
Ari:  Yes, but Mommy it's so boring and humming keeps me from being bored.
Mommy:  Yes, but it was probably disturbing the other kids who were trying to listen to the teacher and learn something.
Ari:  Mommy, being in school is like being in time-out ALL day... it's so boring.

*    *    *

Ari:  Mommy, do you know how to put a baby in your tummy?
Mommy:  Now, why are you asking that?
Ari:  I want you to put a baby in your tummy because I want to have a baby brother.
Mommy: Well, what if it's a girl?
Ari:  Well, that would be ok too.

Ari (eating cotton candy in Dairy Barn at State Fair): Do they make this out of sheep?

My first day of Kindergarten!!
(come on mom, I don't feel like smiling)

Veggies from the garden
Bell peppers, tomatoes, and jalapenos

Awesome dinner with Kim, Dave, and Tommy
Grilled dry-aged steaks from Allen Brother's, mashed potatoes with truffle oil, grilled jalapenos (from garden) stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in turkey bacon, sauteed wild mushrooms with port, grilled organic onions with brown sugar-balsamic glaze... and chocolate cream pie with strawberry cream soup for dessert!

My first assignment... tracing letters
It was easy... but I got my first A+!

New Mexico State Fair

A foot massage and a cold drink... Ahhhh!

Lamb burgers at the Sheep Barn... well, now that's a little sick

The Goat Barn... for THE BEST cotton candy
The best part of the fair (according to my Mommy!)

EJ Martinez Elementary School Carnival

Lots of games... including dunking my teacher, Ms. Ashby!

My favorite part was the drumming circle
